With this package installed you won't need to install any other codecsVCP FACTS: (Vista issues)
- If you're receiving an error message about xvidcore.dll when opening a folder with video's,
delete any files found in system32 (or sysWOW64) starting with xvid
- If you're having issues with 1 specific program, try installing it AFTER the codec package.
If the issue continues, post about it here and I'll do my best to resolve it.
- No codecs are required to play DVD's what-so-ever on Vista installations (any version except 'N').
On a clean installation of ANY version of Vista, install Media Player Classic (this is my personal edition)
and DVD's will play fine in MPC without disabling the aero glass effects.
This installer places a shortcut in the quicklaunch area and doesn't create any filetype associations.
Codecs have always been a pain in the butt. Thats because there has never been a 100% viable working solution available for the average computer user. There are several good codec package solutions out there, but none of them did everything i wanted. I was always in need of a tweak, adjustment, or even a reinstallation just to get the codecs I needed/wanted and most of the time, the file still didnt play. I've never claimed to be a media guru. My media experience is to doubleclick a file i downloaded and hope that it plays. What I do know is how to package software. So I decided to package some codecs and share them with the rest of the world. With this package all possible conflicts are already dealt with. Many user suggested default settings are implemented.
If you have a suggestion of improvement, I'm listening.
It does not contain a media player and it doesn't associates filetypes. With this package installed you will be able to use any media player, limited only by the players' capabilities, to play DVD's, movies and video clips of almost any filetype. Streaming video is supported in all popular web browsers. By default you won't need to make any adjustments to enjoy a variety of media content immediately.
Users have the ability to choose what is installed using the public redistributable or after an unattended install, you can select to remove specific portions without removing the entire package. Future releases will recognize previous releases and are capable of performing upgrade installations.
The recommended unattended installation is to use the RVM Integrator or nLite to integrate the supplied integration file into your source media. Here is the integration file which contains all the information and files required for localized usage although it will need a small edit. To localize the integrated installation, READ the INI file. Check this thread for further assistance.
This package currently supports 16 localized installations: The default install is English including support for the following other languages; Chinese Simplified/Traditional, Japanese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Swedish and Turkish.
You may DOWNLOAD version 4.3.9 from one of these hosting services:

YOU MUST UNINSTALL YOUR OLD VERSION
There is a FLAC Codecs Icon in add/remove or Programs and Features
This should be uninstalled also.
distribution file information:
The above 3 sources receive the distribution file directly from me.
It is currently 19.7 MB and has a MD5 = 75066d7fd94f49ef9682a0123767c0e4
Recent package changes include but were not limited to:
- remove Dscaler5 components
- fix conflicts with Ulead products
- stop QuickTime adding info folders
- Update FFDshow components 1122
- Add DivX 6.5.1 (community codec)
- add Cyberlink MPEG2 and install
- only when Vista MPEG2 not detected
- support 3gp in all players not x64
- add atrac3 audio support
To solve conflicts between HD DVD support and the native MPEG decoding,
I have added 2 new shortcuts to toggle between the formats.
The installation defaults to the MPEG format being prefered as default.
You will need to choose Run as administrator to use these new toggle shortcuts.

I highly recommend installing Media Player Classic. (my personal edition)
This player will play DVD's in Vista with aero glass enabled. This player will also display streaming RealMedia content from Internet Explorer once you associate RAM files to the player. Installing this player will place a shortcut in the quicklaunch area. This installation is silent and has NO PROMPTS during installation. executing it = installed. I use MPC simply as a media player with all internal codecs turned off unlike other codecpack makers that distribute MPC with thier package and have almost all internal codecs turned on to make up for thier poorly functioning packages.
